Email Support

Hello Cybergolf Email Users,

We are in the process of enhancing our email service by providing more security to your accounts, which will help cut down the amount of SPAM that you are experiencing.

You are here because you received a 550 Relay Denied Error when trying to send out an email through Outlook.  The '550 Relay Denied Error' means that Cybergolf is now only allowing authenticated outgoing email through Outlook.

So what does this mean?

Using authenticated outgoing email will now require a username and password in your Outlook's outgoing email server settings. This new protected outgoing server will allow Cybergolf to use new software and coding which will dramatically cut down your Spam.

So how do I fix my sending problem?

You have two options to fix your Outlook to send out again:

  1. Use Your ISP
Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP), such as Comcast, Road Runner, XO Communications, Verizon, etc. and ask them for their Outgoing Mail Server. Once they give you the outgoing server, edit your Outlook Settings and replace the SMTP field, which currently says mail.cybergolf.com with your ISP's outgoing server address.

    Advantages of Using Your ISP
Using your Internet Service Provider for outgoing emails is always the best practice to send out emails through Outlook because most ISPs are well-known by the commonly-used firewall (anti-spam) software companies, which will eliminate the headache of getting returned emails from your contacts using strong SPAM filters.  ISPs typically allow larger files to be sent out in one email through Outlook.

    Disadvantages of Using Your ISP
If you are a laptop user then you will need to switch your Outlook's outgoing server when you move from location to location.

  2. Contact Cybergolf for an Authenticated SMTP Server
Cybergolf will provide you with a new SMTP username and password, which will need to be added to your Outlook settings. In order to obtain a username and password, please click here to fill out a registration form below and one of the Cybergolf Technicians will contact you and provide you with the new secure access.

Advantages of Using Cybergolf for Outgoing
Laptop users may have an easier time using Cybergolf's outgoing mail server to send email because they will not need to switch their outgoing between locations.

Disadvantage of Using Cybergolf for Outgoing
Cybergolf's outgoing email server is not always recognized as a valid outgoing server by some firewall and anti-spam programs, so you may have an issue emailing some of your colleagues, who use strict email filtering.  Solving the filtering issues can be resolved by having your colleagues' email host "whitelist" Cybergolf's mail server: mail.cybergolf.com

Cybergolf's outgoing server only allows file sizes that are smaller than 6MB to be sent out whereas large ISPs will offer up to 8MB to be sent out. Cybergolf will be offerring a Premium Outgoing Server this fall, which will allow users to send file attachments up to 50MB. This premium outgoing service can be added to your Website hosting service for an extra $12 a month. If you are interested in a premium outgoing service, please email info@cybergolf.com

550 Relay Denied

When you receive this error message the mail server is letting you know that your email message was not sent out to the recipient. You got this error because you are using Cybergolf’s mail server (mail.cybergolf.com) for your Outlook’s SMTP (SMTP servers allow you to send out email) properties.

You will need to set up Outlook's SMTP server so that you are using your Internet Service Provider's outgoing mail server.

How can I fix this error?

Use your local internet service provider (ISP) for all your Outgoing emails. It is always a good idea to use your ISP because your local internet company controls all information going in and out of your computer such as emails. Cybergolf supplies its customers with POP3 email accounts which gives companies the ability to receive emails with their company domain name as the email address. i.e. vsingh@cybergolf.com

The first thing you will want to do is find out the name of the company, who is supplying you Internet access. Once you know your Internet Service Provider (ISP), you will need to give that company a call and ask them for help setting up MS Outlook. Most ISP companies will ask you a series of questions before helping you, which are: (1) Name? (2) Company? (3) Name on billing statement? (4) Company credit card number? It is a good idea to have this information before calling; otherwise most ISPs will not help you. Once you get a hold of an ISP customer representative, they should give you an email address that will allow you to send out using your company email address. You will need to add this new email address to Outlook’s email accounts. For help setting this up CLICK HERE.
